This Long Weekend in the Blackstone Valley: Oct. 9–12, 2026
This is a long weekend — Columbus Day falls on Monday, October 12th — and it lines up with peak foliage across the Blackstone Valley. If you've got an extra day off, here's how I'd spend it.
Foliage drives
Mid-October is usually the sweet spot for color through the Blackstone River Valley corridor — back roads through Uxbridge, Northbridge, and Mendon are an easy, low-key way to spend an afternoon without fighting leaf-peeper traffic on the highways.
Apple and pumpkin picking
Orchards across the corridor are in full fall swing this time of year — a good one for families, and a good excuse to check out a town you might be house-hunting in without it feeling like a showing.
Downtown Milford
If you haven't walked Main Street recently, fall's a good time — the restaurant scene down there has only gotten better, and it's worth seeing in person if you're considering the move here.
House-hunting over a long weekend
If you're using the extra day to look at homes, a few new listings typically land right before a long weekend to catch buyers who have the time off. Worth a quick look at what's new before Monday.
